Siena beats Vandy, Franklin scores 10
Franklin picked Siena in the first round, and they did not disappoint. And neither did Alex Franklin, a starting forward for the Saints, who put in 10 points (6 FG, 4 FT).
Now Franklin also has Siena winning in the second round. He thought they would be beating a 5-seed from the ACC (Clemson), so a 12-seed from one of the mid-majors (Villanova) should not be a problem . Once this happens, Franklin's standing in McDowHoops should revive and get him back to the high teens, low twenties.

The problem with the blog is that you have to click through the comments to parse the smack-talk. It was a lot more out in the open in my email inbox.
ReplyDeleteRegardless, the question was asked about which teams we rooted for, and those who know me well know that I'm a Pittsburgh sports fan (my dad grew up there and went to Pitt). So I'm riding my Panthers' "mid-major" conference championship all the way to the Final Four!
Plus, many of the Pitt players are from NYC. Another reason for the rest of y'all to hate them...
Bobby Knight picked Pitt to win it all.
ReplyDeleteI don't care what Bobby Knight thinks. I am more interested in Franklin's picks. He is about to overtake me. This is from Clarkson not Maggie. Mary Ann and Maggie have done what any red blooded female would do during March Madness --- they have gone shoping.
ReplyDeleteThose of us in the bottom five, should all consider going shopping...for a new bracket.
ReplyDeleteI think Dook is going down today. Or at least, I hope Dook is going down today. The West Virginia Mountain Mamas are a good team.
ReplyDeleteRegarding Raskin's point: it is true that it's not efficient to have to click on all the comments. One possibility is to hide the comments function, and force everyone to post. That might decrease the number of participants, which would be bad (it's slightly more cumbersome to post than to comment). But to see what it looks like when everyone posts and no one comments, check out the NCAA blog of our Goucher friends. Will/Piers: if you guys are interested in experimenting with "no comment" mode, go to customize / settings / comments / hide comments.
ReplyDeleteThat Goucher blog is open only to invited readers, but the idea is clear. We could go that way, though Clarkson recently had some frustration with the posting function, so maybe that wouldn't be good. What about returning to an email list (with promises from me to scale back my comments)?
ReplyDeleteLet's give people a chance to chime in, and then if most people seem happy for some change, we'll try something for tomorrow. OK? (Just winging it here, so let me know if there's something I ought obviously to be doing on the blog.)
I cannot believe Duke let a team whose coach didn't have on a collared shirt and tie beat them!
ReplyDeleteI think the blog is better than email, overall.
